Teaching a Dog to Speak
Some dogs are far easier to teach this trick to then others. The knack for getting a dog to bark on command is to understand what you can do to get them to bark in the first place.
How to teach your dog to Speak
Maybe your dog barks when you growl at her, or when you stare right in her eyes. Whatever makes her bark, you will use this to teach her to speak on command.
Say "Speak". Now do whatever you can do to make your dog bark. Staring my dog down makes her nuts and if I do it long enough... she will bark. When she does bark... give her praise. Now repeat this method, saying "Speak" and then making your dog bark.
With practice your dog will bark only by the verbal command.
