Ear Wax
A friend of mine often gets an excess build up of wax in his ears. When he asked me to get him some hydrogen peroxide to flush his ears out with I thought he was insane. My grandma once gave me heck for sticking a Q-Tip in my ear, should would defiantly not approve of pouring a chemical in my ears.
I, however, obliged my friend and and watched him pour the hydrogen peroxide into his ear. Within 10 minutes the compacted ear wax was gone and he felt better. He encouraged me to try it. But in my head, my grandmother's nagging voice would not let give into the peer pressure. My friend assured me that it was fine because the commercial ear cleaning products were mostly made of hydrogen peroxide anyway. Plus, it "fizzes like Pop Rocks... Pop Rocks in your ear" he explained.
I am a sucker for novelty, so I took a Q-Tip dipped in Hydrogen Peroxide and swabbed the inside of my ears. It felt and sounded pretty cool, I must admit. I am not a particular waxy person, so I didn't need an ear cleaning, but I did enjoy the experience.
Now when I have itchy ears from a cold I do the Hydrogen Peroxide-laced Q-tip thing, and it helps tremendously.
Notes:
I've read online while some people love the effects on hydrogen peroxide
in their ears, others have ended up with ear aches a few hours after
pouring it in their ears. So I recommend doing the Q-Tip application
rather than pouring it straight into your ear to test it's affects
on your system.
It's common knowledge that sticking just about anything in your ears is a bad idea. Before trying the above, I would suggest talking to your doctor first. If they suggest an over-the-counter ear flushing product, then the hydrogen peroxide is probably fine, as it usually the main ingredient in the commercial ear wax removal products.
