Relieving Sore Throats

A friend of mine's mother gave me this recipe, it reminds me a lot of something that a traditional Chinese doctor gave me once as well:

Add about a teaspoon of each to a glass of warm water or herbal tea: lemon juice, honey, garlic and ginger. Sip on it, or just use it as a gargle. It doesn't taste great, but it works well.

Other suggestions:

Gargle with warm salt water.

Eat some garlic (garlic has antibiotic properties that can kill bacteria in your throat causing you the pain).
